HEATHER PARRISH, M.ED., C-SLDI

Hello! I’m Heather Parrish, the owner and founder of Fierce Literacy. I taught Exceptional Education for 14 years in the public school system. I earned my Master’s degree in Collaborative Special Education K-12, and my passion has evolved to literacy and helping students with Dyslexia. My training began at the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) with the Comprehensive Training and was followed by IMSE's Intermediate Training and Comprehensive Practicum. I am an IMSE Orton Gillingham Certified Teacher as well as a Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (Cert ID: E180584). I am also a certified Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading & Spelling (LETRS) Trainer. I cannot wait for you to join me on this learning journey!

AMY MCCLELLAN, M.ED.

Hello! I am Amy McClellan, and I am passionate about teaching and learning! I earned a Bachelor's degree in the area of Social Work from the University of Alabama and went on to earn a Master's in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I have taught and substituted in the Hoover City School District for more than 7 years. I also taught in the preschool setting for 7 years where I was lead teacher for the 3 year olds. I am looking forward to helping your child with his or her learning needs!

Hello! I am Shannon Shuford. I have been teaching Exceptional Education for the past 18 years. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Samford University. While there, I found my passion for helping students overcome learning difficulties. I earned a Master's in Early Childhood Special Education at UAB and went on to earn my Educational Specialist degree in Collaborative Special Education from The University of Alabama. I have completed the Orton Gillingham Comprehensive Training at the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). I am passionate about your child's learning, and I look forward to working with your child to meet their educational needs.
DANA MCSORLEY, B.A.

Hello! My name is Dana McSorley, and I am passionate about your child's learning. I received a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. For 12 years, I have taught preschool, kindergarten, and fourth grade in public and private school systems. I have tutored math and language arts for over 10 years. I am married to a fellow coach and teacher, and we have one beautiful daughter. I look forward to working with Fierce Literacy to meet your child's needs.
